Ten amazing snapshots of Christina Koch's 11 months in space

Christina Koch, a Nasa astronaut from North Carolina, returned to Earth last Thursday, after 328 days on the International Space Station (ISS).

She now holds the record for the longest-ever single spaceflight by a woman.

During her time in space, Koch kept her Twitter followers updated with images taken from the ISS.

Here are 10 of the most incredible and eye-opening moments from her adventure...

Christina arrived at her new home in space on 19 March 2019, where she and two fellow astronauts joined the existing crew.

If you think you've seen all there is to see of your home town, wait until you see it from space!

Few people are lucky enough to see the Northern Lights, let alone from the other side of the atmosphere, but thanks to Christina, we can all view this incredible footage of them.

It looks like we all need to up our selfie game.

I could try to explain the physics behind this curious clip, but I'll leave that to the astronauts.

We all have that particular nook where we like to sit (or in this case, float) and relax with a book.

On 18 October, 2019, Christina was part of the first ever all woman spacewalk with crewmate, Jessica Meir.

The sunset to end all sunsets.

Santa always makes sure to visit the ISS.

And finally, the most breathtaking sight that most of us can only dream of witnessing from such a distance: our home, planet Earth.
